Chef's Challenge at Boyne Mountain

The 6th annual Chef's Challenge at Boyne Mountain features the best of Northern Michigan's cuisine with a cause. The event is a fundraiser for Challenge Mountain and features a variety of fabulous foods by talented chefs. The event is a celebration Michigan chefs and culinary students who vie for votes from participants with creative recipes.

Friday evening, high school culinary students compete with Italian sausage, beef tenderloin, and chicken dishes all for $10 an unlimited sampling. Entertainment and a cash bar will also be available.

On Saturday, 9am, food seminars and demonstrations with topics ranging from cake decorating, a history lesson in whiskey, cooking with spring produce are offered free of charge. From 11am-2pm, the Taste of Michigan competition hosts four separate categories: college and universities, center-of-plate or professionals, Michigan desserts, and beverages. The cost for the tasting event is $25 for eight tickets or four for $15, with additional tickets available at the door.

The event ends with the Chefs Challenge Cook-Off Dinner from 6:30-9pm and will be emceed by celebrity chef Michelle Bommarito. The evening event includes a four-course dinner by executive chef Jeff Minkwic and executive sous chef Chad King of Boyne Mountain. The dinner is an Iron Chef-style cook-off between the two professional winning teams from the afternoon's event. Tickets are $75.
